Email Settings for SmartPhones


Below are instructions for configuring your Android or iPhone for Zimbra email.

Android Phones:

Each Android phone is customized by different manufacturers to look slightly different, but function all the same.  Below is the necessary information you will need to configure your phone’s email app.

  • Your email address and account name are the same. For example john.dow@trinfocafe.com is the same both.
  • Your password is the same as your webmail or workstation configuration.
  • For incoming mail, select IMAP, and the incoming server name will be mailboxes.yourdomain.name – for example – mailboxes.trinfocafe.com
  • For your protection, all incoming and outgoing mail has security encryption.  For incoming mail the security type is SSL, port 993.  Some phones have SSL/TLS, while others have SSL/TLS (Accept all certificates).  These are all the same, but make sure your port is set to 993!
  • For outgoing mail or SMTP server, the outgoing server name is zimbra2.trinfocafe.org.  Like the incoming mail server, the SMTP server has security encryption.  The type is SSL, port 465, or like the incoming server, your phone might have SSL/TLS or SSL/TLS (Accept all certificates).  Make sure the port is 465.
  • If you are prompted at any point with ‘unable to connect’ or ‘error connecting to server’, make sure you’ve spelled everything correctly.  Often times, the small keyboard makes it difficult, particularly your passwords.
  • Once complete, create a new message and send a message to yourself.  This will confirm if you can send properly, as well as receive new messages.

 

iPhones:

  • Go to settings and scroll down to Mail, Contacts, Calendars
  • Select Add Account
  • Scroll down to Other
  • Select Add Mail Account
  • Enter your Name, email address, password, and a description (like Work Email)
  • Make sure IMAP is selected
  • Incoming Mail Server Host Name – mailboxes.yourdomain.name – for example mailboxes.trinfocafe.com
  • Your username is your email address – i.e. john.doe@trinfocafe.com
  • Reenter your password
  • Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) Host name – zimbra2.trinfocafe.org
  • Your username is your email address – i.e. john.doe@trinfocafe.com
  • Reenter your password
  • Click Next at the top right.
  • On iPhones, you will be prompted with a screen asking for more details.  Select Details.  This will take you to all the details for the security certificate.  At the top right hand corner select ACCEPT.
  • Once verified, click SAVE at the top right and your phone is now configured.
  • Once complete, create a new message and send a message to yourself.  This will confirm if you can send properly, as well as receive new messages.
